Welcome to the Omapere Taraire E & Rangihamama X3A Ahu Whenua Trust
The Omapere Taraire E & Rangihamama X3A Ahu Whenua Trust is a large scale land administration trust operating for the long-term benefit of over 3000 shareholders. ORT is entrusted with the care of two land blocks with a total of 1991 hectares. Each block is an amalgamation of smaller whanau holdings. The two blocks were joined to form a collaborating operation as the hapu are one and the same.
The affiliated hapu are:
Ngai Tawake, Ngati Korohue, Ngati Kuri, Ngati Kura, Ngati Hau, Ngati Rangi, Ngati Uenuku, Ngati Whakaeke, Ngati Ueoneone, Ngati Tautahi, Ngati Korakora, Te Uri O Hua, Te Popoto, Te Tako Toke.
The affiliated marae are:
Kohewhata, Parihaka, Puhimoanaariki, Te Iringa, Te Kotahitanga, Parawhenua, Rawhitiroa.
Rangihamama is 573 hectares of land approximately 3 kms south of Kaikohe which is primarily used for pastoral activities. Historically horticulture has been phased in and out Rangihamama has the natural resources and infrastructure for this activity.
Omapere is 1418 hectares of land located approximately 3kms north of Kaikohe which is primarily used for pastoral activities, forestry and land conservation.
The Trust also holds a Housing portfolio; currently four properties within the Omapere and Rangihamama land blocks are on the rental market.
