Applications Close: 16 Dec 2013

Region: Northland Category: 2IC

Position Starts: 1 Jun 2014 Position Type: Permanent – Full Time

Description

We invite applications for the 2IC role with the new dairy venture of Rangihamama Dairy Partnership Limited (RDPL); a split-calving dairy conversion commencing Autumn 2014. RDPL is the farming entity formed by the Omapere Taraire E & Rangihamama X3A Ahu Whenua Trust and Te Tumu Paeroa, the Maori Trustee, to establish and operate a 550-cow, 230,000 kgMS dairy business in Northland. The herd will comprise 450 cows in the first year of operation, growing to 550 cows over three seasons. Production from the split calving, medium to high input system is budgeted at 180,000 kgMS in year one, with a status quo of 400-450 kgMS/cow, and milksolids totalling 230,000 kgMS from year three of the development.

As the 2IC in a business growing cow numbers and production over three years, this role offers the unique chance to extend and fine tune your dairying management skills. You will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the best dairy industry professionals implementing best-practice systems. A competitive remuneration package is available for a suitably experienced and industry qualified 2IC. With milk production targets in the top 5% for Northland at 1,100-1,300 kgMS per hectare you will be a team player with hands-on ability to work in this higher input system. We are looking to put together a great team, and our preference of start date is February 2014, but talk to us if other options suit you better.
